History

C2OPS Inc. went live in the summer of 2019, based upon years of machine learning and healthcare research conducted by the founding team. C2OPS thrives on family spirit, and we aim for our partners to feel the same way.

Amey Mahajan
CEO

​
Amey (pronounced “uh-may-uh”) serves as the CEO of C2OPS Inc.

​He received his B.S. in Applied Mathematics (concentration in Statistics) and B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 2017, and has published a number of peer-reviewed research papers relating to health informatics since 2014. Prior to founding C2OPS Inc., Amey worked at J.P. Morgan in New York City on the Cross Asset Structuring team. Amey is also currently pursuing an M.S. degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

​In his spare time, Amey enjoys playing classical guitar, reading, and attempting to brew the perfect cup of pour-over coffee.

Scientific Advisory Board

Important note: ​Each member of the C2OPS Inc. Scientific Advisory Board (Advisory Board) serves on an uncompensated basis, and does not receive payment in the form of salary, bonus, equity compensation, benefits, perks, or gifts. Members serve voluntarily under no form of contractual obligation or arrangement between themselves and the Company and may terminate their service on the Advisory Board at any time simply by notifying the Company. Advisory Board members do not vote on operating decisions of the Company. Members of the Advisory Board are not considered employees, contractors, Directors, or Officers of the Company. Members do not expect to benefit financially from their advice to the Company.

Dr. Jim Baxter
Physician

Dr. Jim Baxter retired on January 21, 2020 from a 34-year career as a full time hospital medicine attending physician. Prior to attending medical school, he worked for four years at Standard Oil of California as an exploration geophysicist. Dr. Baxter's focus during his medical career was on direct inpatient care and on medical education, teaching clinical decision making and patient management to medical students and residents. He was the site director at his facility from 1999 to 2009 for the Stanford Core Medicine and Medicine Subintern rotations. During this period, Dr. Baxter was also an assistant program director for his facility’s internal medicine residency program. Since 2009, he has continued as a full time hospitalist attending on the resident teaching service.

Dr. Carlos Galvao-Sobriñho
Physician and Historian

Dr. Galvao-Sobrinho is a physician and a historian.  He graduated from medical school in Brazil and completed his training in internal medicine and nephrology in Brazil and the USA.  He did his residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai Bronx VA program in New York City and was a nephrology fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Dr. Galvao’s intellectual interests are broad and extend into fields of the humanities.  He completed a doctorate in history at Yale University, with a concentration in ancient history.  For many years, he taught history at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with a focus on Roman history and ancient medicine. He has published books and articles in medicine, science, history and  history of medicine. He currently lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he works as a full-time nephrologist.

Dr. Barbara Hanna
President, Home & Health Care Management Inc.

Dr. Barbara Hanna spent over 40 years in the field of Health Care Management. She is the Founder and President of Home & Health Care Management Inc., which provides home health management to communities in a caring and cost-effective manner. For 22 years, Dr. Hanna worked as the President of Caring Choices, an organization dedicated to helping Northern California residents impacted by the HIV epidemic. In 2002, she was selected as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Scholar and later served on a statewide advisory panel for University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Hanna holds a BS in Nursing from California State University, Chico, and a PhD in Nursing Science and Healthcare Leadership from the University of California, Davis.

Robert King
Health Science Specialist

Mr. Robert King has spent over 35 years in the health care field, including anesthesiology and perioperative services and business administration. He has experience working with diverse teams of research, clinical, technical, and administrative staff. After spending 17 years working in Ophthalmology services, Mr. King served at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System for 18 years, where he worked as an IT Specialist, Data Management Analyst, and Health Science Specialist. He has co-authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals during his service. Mr. King holds a BS in Biology from San Francisco State University, an MS in Healthcare Operations Management (HOM) from Nebraska Methodist College, and a second MS in Health Care Analytics from the University of Nebraska.
